What is REACH?

On 4 January 2022, the revised REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization & Restriction of Chemicals) regulations came into force , banning specific substances affecting all tattoo and permanent make-up inks sold in Europe.

In response, Perma Blend has launched LUXE , a new REACH compliant line to ensure European artists have continued access to high quality pigments. While upgrading to LUXE is a great first step, ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) recommends some protocols to protect artists and their studios.

Your to-do list

You've chosen LUXE , so you should be good to go, right? Yes, but there are a few more steps to take to ensure that you and your practice are recognized as REACH compliant when reviewed.

All non-compliant pigments should be purged from your practice and be sure to keep some sort of disposal record as evidence in case of an investigation. There is a possibility that if it is discovered that you still possess non-compliant pigments, even if you have switched to LUXE , action may be taken against you.

When starting a new client, in order to fill out all the legal permits for the process, you must pass all information about the LUXE pigment bottles to that client . This will ensure that all safety protocols are followed and that your client has no allergies to any of the substances within the pigment.

If you do not follow the above steps, you could face a prison sentence of up to 2 years and/or substantial fines. The disciplinary action above does not take into consideration the possibility of any complaints brought against you or your company by prospective customers. These penalties are subject to change depending on your country of residence, so check with the authorities in your country to confirm.

Why choose LUXE?

As with all Perma Blend products, great efforts have been made to ensure significant cure, research and testing is followed with each of the LUXE pigments to ensure all products are safe, long lasting and easy to use for all cosmetic tattoo artists.

During the development of LUXE , Perma Blend worked diligently to ensure that all products were vetted at every level of manufacturing and testing, starting with individual ingredients right through to the final pigments. All products are controlled to the highest level of efficiency and safety with the quality control system, ISO 13485 . As the industry has evolved with these regulations, Perma Blend has undergone a metamorphosis, expanding its research, manufacturing and testing facilities to triple in size. Now, a magnificent new addition to their US-based manufacturing, bottling, and R&D facility has expanded their capabilities to create the pigments you've sworn about for years.

With over 40 decadent shades and formulations to choose from, LUXE is here to make your transition to the new EU regulations comfortable and successful. At launch, LUXE is only available to artists from the EU so they can be fully supported during this transition.
